Original Dye-Sublimated Webbing Patterns for Strapworks
Ombre Hibiscus
This is one of my earliest Strapworks patterns and was originally created for their instrument strap division, Killer Guitar Straps. Below are design templates for 3/4", 1", 1.5", and 2" widths. All patterns pictured here use a 12" repeat.
This is the original illustration that I drew to create this pattern. I drew it in pencil on paper, inked it, then scanned it into Photoshop for further editing and to create the final pattern.
Fish Eating Fish
The following pattern was for a fly fishing trade show. Below are templates for 1" and 1.5" widths.
These are the pencil-and-ink illustrations I drew for this project. The smallest is a Minnow, the largest is a Northern Pike, the one on the same sheet of paper as the Minnow is a Smallmouth Bass, and the remaining one is a Walleye. I scanned the drawings and imported the lineart into Adobe Illustrator to create vector shapes, then set up the final pattern in Photoshop. This was my first real try at digital painting, before I realized that the fish would be too small on webbing for that level of color detail to come through. I never completely finished painting the Bass and the Walleye.
Here is a 1" lanyard made from the final pattern using Satin Polyester webbing.
Squid with Swords
This pattern started out as a joke suggestion from a friend, but inspiration struck and I actually went through with it. This was originally a limited edition Killer Guitar Straps pattern for a NAMM trade show, but management and customers liked it so much that it was added to Strapworks' main collection of stock patterns. Below are two variations, set up for 2" webbing.
Original illustrations for this pattern. As you can see, I ended up modifying the squid's eyes a bit once I had the drawing digitized.
Fishnet Flamingos
I created this pattern for the very specific context of an Exxxotica trade show taking place in Florida. After coming off of "Squid with Swords" and its success, I decided to go for another quirky animal illustration pattern. Strapworks management enjoyed it enough that they also added it to the stock pattern selection. I created both a green and a blue variant. Below are templates for the green version on 1", 1.5", and 2" webbing, both versions for mousepads, and the blue version for an apron.
(I will get an image of my original illustration on paper for this pattern in the near future.)
Arctic Char
This pattern was also for the fly fishing trade show mentioned above. Below are templates for 1" and 1.5" wide webbing.
Sunset Mountains
This pattern was my first effort at digital illustration, drawing with either a tablet or a mouse. Here it is for 1" and 1.5" webbing.
Geotangles
This is one of my favorite geometric patterns that I've created. I was going for a mid-century modern sort of vibe. Here it is for 3/4", 1", 1.5", and 2" webbing was well as a round mouse pad.
Blue Plaid
A classic blue plaid design that I originally created for our pet products division to use on Amazon. It also made it into Strapworks' general stock pattern selection. Here it is for 3/4", 1", 1.5", and 2" webbing.
Valentine Hearts
These last two patterns are some of the first that I created original artwork for using Adobe Illustrator. I believe "Valentine Hearts" was first as the hearts are simpler than the eggs in "Easter Eggs." Below are seven different colorways, all set up for 1.5" webbing.
Easter Eggs
This is an Easter pattern that I created as an exercise in using subtle gradients in Adobe Illustrator. I set it up for 1" and 1.5" webbing.
